A vehicle assessment provides a comprehensive review of musculoskeletal risks and intuitive cost-effective solutions to work with your vehicle.
Why is this important?
Workers who spend over 20 hours a week in their vehicles in a day are at increased risk for musculoskeletal disorders and lost time (Porter & Gyi, 2002).
Non-neutral trunk postures when driving can be a significant predictor of low back pain (Bovenzi et al., 2006)
How we do it:
Review of:
Pain/ discomfort/ relevant medical history
Job demands including time spent driving, computer work, sitting time, etc.
Assess positioning in the vehicle, exiting the vehicle, and completing any work in the vehicle (ex. Using a laptop)
Gather necessary measurements
Provide education and coaching on optimal positioning relative to the vehicle
Following the assessment, a report is provided including changes made onsite and further recommendations to work with the current vehicle (ex. Laptop mount, lumbar support, seat cushion/ wedge, etc.)
If a new vehicle is required, we can assist in the selection process. Provide us with a few options for review using the process noted above to ensure that the vehicle purchased will minimize risk to your employees.
